Expanding Access to MOUD through Medication First, Low Barrier Models of Care

Sharing the model and experience of Seattle STEP Clinic, this presentation will illustrate the principles, successes, and challenges of a low barrier/medication first approach to providing medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) in the community setting. It will identify barriers to accessing MOUD in traditional settings and illustrate how incorporating harm reduction principles and utilizing a low barrier approach can expand access to this lifesaving treatment to those at highest risk of morbidity and mortality from OUD.
